Glacier National Park (Friday)

Well, it's been a few days since our last post! Sorry to those who check for our updates regularly (probably just our loving parents).  We just arrived in Portland, OR tonight.  But, first let's rewind to last Friday when we finished touring Glacier National Park.  We decided to tour the Two Medicine Lake area, which was a little over an hour's drive from St. Mary, where our campground was.  We started off in the area with a short hike to Running Eagle Falls where we were able to climb on some large boulders close to the falls.  We love when you are so close to the falls that you can feel the mist blowing at you.  We continued on to Appistoki Falls.  Apparently, when it was being named, the Native Americans were helping to name it, and there was some sort of translation error.  So, the Native American name means the area between a man's legs.  We thought this story was pretty funny!  To end our day, we drove to Two Medicine Lake, where we took at boat across and then hiked up to Twin Falls and Upper Two Medicine Lake.  It was about a 4.4 mile round trip hike, and the upper lake was incredible!  It  l;l;lwas so pristine.  We don't think too many people hike up that way.

On the boat ride back across the lake, we were told to eat at Johnson's Café in St. Mary.  We were actually staying at their campground, so we decided to give it a try!  It was delicious, and it's definitely an experience.  So, if you're staying in the area, we'd definitely recommend having dinner there.  It has delicious homemade food that is served family style with a country feel.  The restaurant was so neat!  It had a bunch of old artifacts from the area covering the log cabin walls.  We were stuffed when we left!  But, we were also told by some people on the boat to leave room for pie.  So, we headed down to Park Café (just right down the road from our campground).  It was the BEST PIE I'VE EVER HAD!  We split a piece of chocolate cream pie.  MMMMMM.  We even tried to get some pie for breakfast in the morning as we were leaving for Seattle, but unfortunately they didn't have them made for the day yet.  Then, we were off to Seattle (an 11 hour drive)!

Dinner time... split pea soup (just the first course)

Beautiful sunset
