Finally, we're getting all caught up. Today (Wednesday) we drove from our campsite
into the Hoh Rainforest region of Olympic National Park. We walked a couple of nature trails through
the rainforest. There was a lot of moss,
a lot of greenery, and a lot of big trees!
We've never seen anything like it!
They were a couple of neat trails!
As we rounded the bend on one of the trails, there were two deer eating
about 10 feet in front of us. I didn't
even notice at first, until Patrick stopped me from basically running into
them. The deer were not frightened by
us, and we were able to take a few pictures and a GREAT video! Once done with
our walks, we drove to our last couple of stops before heading to Portland,
Oregon. We stopped at an enormous Cedar
Tree and then at Ruby Beach. Ruby Beach
was so cool! It is a long stretch of
beach with a ton of drift wood and large rocks.
You must go to the beach at low tide.
Otherwise, I don't think you'd be able to walk as far or get out onto
the rocks. You can see where the water
comes up to on the rocks during high tide.
It was a gorgeous beach! It's
definitely not a tropical beach with white sand. It is a rocky beach that maintains a haze
over the area, even during mid-day. It
was a "Pacific Northwest beach."
Very cool!
