Yesterday (Tuesday), we drove north from our campsite, on
our way up to Mammoth Hot Springs (still in Yellowstone). We stopped at a few
different points along the way. Man, we sure drove a lot! We didn’t realize how
huge Yellowstone is. Our first stop was Midway Geyser Basin, where we saw
Excelsior Geyser Crater, one of the largest geysers in the world (when active). We also saw Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the U.S. See... we're learning things on this adventure :)
From Midway Geyser Basin, we continued north to Gibbon Falls. We stopped at a few more places and had lunch at a picnic area near Beaver Lake. Finally we made our way up to Mammoth Hot Springs. We noticed that many of the "hot springs" were dry, but the ones that are active are pretty neat. Some of them are very colorful! Late in the afternoon, we drove back to our campsite. We stopped at Firehole Falls on the way. Once back at the campsite, we spent the evening relaxing.
Now, on to Glacier National Park!
