We got up this morning (Monday) and headed north from Grand Teton to Yellowstone National Park. Our site was not vacated by the time we tried to check in at Grant Village (one of the campgrounds in the park), so we took our camper with us up to see Old Faithful and some other geysers in that area. The neatest eruption that we saw was that of Mortar Geyser and the small ones surrounding it. Apparently these geysers are all supposed to go off every one to five days, but they hadn't gone off for eight days. The park rangers were pretty excited about this eruption. We will upload video when we have better internet availability.
After spending a couple hours in that area, we had lunch in
the car, dropped off our camper at the site, and headed to the Grand Canyon of
Yellowstone! We made our way to Lower and Upper Falls, while stopping at plenty
of lookouts along the way. We saw some spectacular views of the Falls and
surrounding canyon. We saw a ton of wildlife while driving through Yellowstone
today. We saw elk, deer, moose, and bison. On our way back to our campsite, we
were stopped for quite awhile because a motorcyclist had hit an elk. We think
both the driver and rider were ok. Unfortunately, the elk was not ok.
