Glacier National Park (Thursday)

On Wednesday, we drove from Yellowstone to Glacier National Park. It was a full day of driving! We drove through Helena on the way up to Glacier so that Patrick could get his haircut, we could get some much-needed groceries, and we could utilize some better wi-fi to update our blog!  Nothing too exciting happened along the way (which is probably a good thing, right?)  Anyways, now on to the exciting stuff!

We woke up on Thursday morning ready for a full day of adventure!  We took Going to the Sun Road through Glacier National Park all day.  We stopped at many places along the way.  First up was a pit stop at an over look of Wild Goose Island on Saint Mary Lake.  Patrick got some great pictures. (I have to give pretty much all of the credit to him on all of our pictures... he's got some great shots.)  Then we drove on along the road to Baring Falls and Sunrift Gorge... just to warn you, we went to a lot of waterfalls in this Park, so there are a lot of pictures of them.  All of them were so cool!  We drove on to St. Mary Falls.  Our travel book told us to stop here.  There was a sign for Virginia Falls that was less than a mile further along the path.  We thought, "Why not?  We like waterfalls!"  This was one of the neatest things that I've ever seen!  We could stand at the base of the falls.  I would sooooo recommend going to these falls!

We were getting hungry after that hike, so we headed up to Hidden Lake Nature Trail at Logan Pass.  We had some lunch sitting in the back of our car and there were bighorn sheep walking towards the parking lot!  So cool to see!  We took Hidden Lake Nature Trail, which is supposed to be a nice boardwalk through fields of wildflowers, but the snow has not melted yet... So, we treked 90% of 3 miles in SNOW (it was almost 90 degrees yesterday)!  Needless to say, the view was worth it.  At the end of the trail, Hidden Lake awaited us, and some mountain goats came within 10 feet of us.  Again, very cool.  We finished the day off with driving further on Going to the Sun Road to Lake McDonald and stopped at McDonald Falls. Then, we turned around and headed back on the road, passing every site that we saw yesterday on our way back to the campground.  The entire drive through the park is exquisite!  Overall, I think it was our favorite day so far!  (Virginia Falls is awesome! :))
